What is a photo backdrop?
A photo backdrop is the scene placed behind your subject in the studio. At Colors&Drops, every photo backdrop is a printed design (texture, solid colour, interior, nature, Christmas…) created in France by photographers, then printed to order in Europe. Over 5,000 professional photo backdrops for newborn, baby, maternity, portrait, family and school photo sessions.
Which material should you choose for your photo backdrop?
Textile is glare-free, light, foldable and machine washable cold: the all-round studio backdrop. Tex-Stretch does not crease, even when folded. Vinyl is smooth, flexible and washable with soap and water. Mat Floor is very thick and washable: ideal for cake smash and bath sessions. Rubber Mat, a matte photo floor on a rubber base, is soft and non-slip for little ones.
Which backdrop size for which photo session?
An 80 × 120 cm photo backdrop is enough for a newborn session. For a standing family, go for 225 × 300 or 250 × 300 cm. For full-length maternity photos, vertical sizes go up to 200 × 400 cm. Need another size? We make it to measure. See the size guide.
Fabric backdrop or paper backdrop: what's the difference?
A paper backdrop is a roll, usually in a solid colour: when it gets dirty or marked, you cut off the damaged part. Our fabric photo backdrops and printed floors fold or roll up, can be cleaned and are reused session after session. They come in printed designs and solid colours.
Do you have solid-colour photo backdrops: white, black, grey?
Yes. The Monochromatic collection offers white, black, grey, charcoal, beige and many other shades of photo backdrops, as backdrops and as floors. To get a backdrop and a floor in exactly the same colour, order them together: the colours will match perfectly.
Are there reflections with flash?
Textile, Tex-Stretch and Rubber Mat are glare-free. Vinyl and Mat Floor may show slight reflections: light them from the side.
How do you set up your photo backdrop in the studio?
To hang your backdrops and switch scenes quickly, we offer the EzyFlat stand, the double-sided Fix&Go stand and the Fix&Go frame, all in Support & Frame. On a bar, hang your backdrop with spring clamps, or choose the Rod pocket finish to slide the bar through.
Can you make a custom-size photo backdrop?
Yes. Choose one of our designs, or send your own artwork, then enter your dimensions and material: it's your personalised backdrop, made to fit your studio. In Textile and Tex-Stretch, you can add a Rod pocket or Keder edge finish.
What are the lead times, and do you ship outside France?
Allow 10 to 12 business days between order and delivery, with UPS tracking: every photo backdrop is printed individually, never stocked. We ship all across Europe. Shipping costs €15 to France and the European Union; the exact rate for your country is shown in the cart.
Are your photo backdrops eco-friendly?
They are printed with solvent-free, water-based inks made with plant-based latex, safe for health. Created in France, printed in Europe.
